Feature: Nissan Skyline PI33
Topfavorite in the Super Pro Class of Time Attack is Kevin Go with his 750hp strong Nissan Skyline R33. In 2008 he won the title and on the 25th of September he will compete during Super Sunday with one goal again; to win. Photographer Jordy de Droog gladly accepted the invitation to shoot the PI33 for a full feature.
A small introduction: Kevin Go, 25 years, owner of Pro Import Motorsports. His former carreer as international kartpilot already tells you he knows how to set a quick laptime. These days he takes on a bit more serious tools for the job though; this R33 Skyline.

It was bought standard, but thanks to competitions like Time Attack it was developed further and further. One of the opportunities a company has in these kind of competitions as it comes to development, is demonstrated perfectly; build, race and sell.

The list of modifications done since 2003 is huge and because of the competition in the league Kevin isn't willing to explain everything just yet. When the turbo is set on a pressure 1.7 bar (while the turbo could reach 2.0 with ease), this monster packs a whopping 750hp and 775nm of torque. All on regular Euro 98 fuel!

The power souce: an RB26 engine, 2.7 liter, equipped with a Nitto Stroker kit and a head that is fully ported and flowed. JUN 280/288 camshafts, JUN 11.000 valve springs, Nitto headgasket and ACL racing bearings are just a few more modifications that were done to reach the performance numbers.

One of the main things that produces the power is the turbo, and this is a one-of-a-kind made custom for this project; a PI Holset T75-RR turbokit.

The turbo is currently in 'chill' mode and delivering 1.4 bars of pressure. You see, this car is still streetlegal, so that setup provides enough power to cruise along a bit more relaxed. The interior is fully stripped and the original seats are swapped with a Cobra seat. The steering wheel is from Sparco, the belts from Eltec and the engine is monitored by several gauges and a Haltech IQ3 loggerdash.

A lot of power is great, but not enough to win races with. The handling of the car is probably just as important. The custom frontbumper was developed past winter and with the help of several carbon parts like the splitted and canards, combined with the carbon GT wing at the rear, it delivers enough downforce to keep the car steady during high speed corners.

This PI33 is seriously quick and we've experienced that ourselves with a drive along. The G-forces that push you into the seat during acceleration are quite frightening.

The wheels are Volk Racing TE37 18" with Falken Azenis RT-615K tyres. Just as important is the AST Competition suspensionset, Cusco toe arms and the rollcage which is welded onto the chassis to strengthen the whole package.

The lads from Pro Import Motorsports certainly understand their game and I quote them by saying "A lot of power is useless without the right tune". We'll be seeing these lads again at Super Sunday!
